The District RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy) Executive Committee plans and oversees a six-day summer camp for high school students between their sophomore and junior years. RYLA campers are successful individuals with leadership potential who are recommended by their schools and selected for sponsorship by local Rotary clubs. Our District’s RYLA format promotes leadership development emphasizing team problem-solving, communication and conflict management, ethical decision-making, and community citizenship. RYLA sponsorships are $550 per camper, paid entirely by Rotary; the camp accommodates up to 144 young leaders. RYLA is held at Grove Camp, in Dorena, Oregon. A short, engaging RYLA DVD is available from Mary Hoskins.
