TO: DG Rick Olson – Please accept this written notice as my formal submission to hold the 2022 District Celebration in the Corvallis Oregon, hosted by the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis. The proposed date will be April 29 – MAY 1, 2022
Our District 5110 By-laws: Pursuant to ARTICLE XVI – DISTRICT CONFERENCE AND DISTRICT RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE
This Notice will inform the Rotary Clubs of the District that they have thirty (30) days from the date of the Notice to submit an alternative proposed District Conference date and location. Please use today’s date of March 16, 2020 as the official date of notice. If your Club is interested in submitting an alternative proposal for the District Celebration in 2022, have your Club President submit a written proposal to DGN Gerry by email [firstname.lastname@example.org] no later than midnight April 15, 2020.
Supplemental Information; One of a District Governor Nominee’s important early responsibilities is to identify a location venue and date for the annual District Celebration event (formally known as the District Conference) to be held during the year that Governor Nominee will serve as District Governor. The earlier a meeting location and date can be selected, the easier it becomes to plan an outstanding event, secure stellar program speakers and sponsors, as well as budgeting affordable and attractive options for attendees.
To this end, DGN Gerry Kosanovic has received a proposal from the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis asking that it be selected as the Host Club for the 2022 District
Celebration to be held at the Oregon State University Alumni Center on April 29-May 1, 2022.
The previous District Conference in Corvallis was held during the late PDG Hans Neukomm’s term as District Governor. Those who attended the event in Corvallis discovered an excellent meeting venue at the OSU Alumni Center and the adjoining LaSells Stewart Center. Rotarians that attended the 2004 event will remember the venue for its many exceptional attributes, including affordable hotels within walking distance, spacious meeting rooms, excellent catering services and the many distinguishing academic and athletic features found on the large campus of Oregon State University. The nearby RV Park at the Benton County Event Center makes attendance even more affordable for those choosing to bring their recreational vehicle. A letter of intent from the OSU Alumni Center and The LaSelles Stewart Center is holding the April 29-May 1 dates for the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis.
DGN Gerry favors holding District Celebration in Corvallis as a central location for Rotarians, following pattern set with the planned (and cancelled due to CoronaVirus impact) 2020 event in Eugene, Oregon, to also stage the Club Training Assembly on the first day.
