March 8, 2022 – Rotary’s highest honor, bestowed by the Rotary International Board of Directors, recognizes Rotarians who demonstrate Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, by volunteering their time and talents to help others.  The Service Above Self Award is internationally competitive and granted to no more than 150 Rotarians worldwide.

The Rotary Board of Directors has chosen District 5110 Rotarian Dr. Terri Homer, President of the Rotary Club of Corvallis, to receive the 2021-2022 Service Above Self Award.

With a long and storied year career as an anesthesiologist, Dr. Homer volunteered on thirty (30) surgical mission trips in developing countries in Central and South America and Southeast Asia. Those trips provided children with life-changing pediatric plastic reconstructive surgery including cleft lip repair, and cleft palate restoration.   Additionally, Dr. Homer has volunteered and traveled to other nations on numerous occasions treating burn scar release and grafting. These experiences formed the basis of the truly exceptional service-above-self volunteer work.

Congratulations, Dr. Homer.  A formal presentation of the award will take place at the April 30th District 5110 Celebration Conference.  Additionally, the Rotary International Board of Directors has invited Terri to an exclusive recognition event at the Rotary International Convention in Houston.   The 2021-2022 Service Above Self recipients will also be featured in Rotary publications after July 1, 2022.
