Do you know what the Council on Legislation is? Have you heard the six “E’s” of Leadership? Do you know about teamwork and that it is “lonely at the top unless you bring your team with you?”
These topics are among the many discussed at the Rotary Leadership Institute, led by DG Nominee Gerry Kosanovic and Past District Governor Bill Grile.
A total of 30 Rotarians from 17 clubs in District 5110 attended, spending two days Sept. 28-29, learing alout Rotary. The two-day weekend included knowledge about Rotary’s structure, mission, vision, values, areas of focus and governance from Coordinators Kosanovic and Grile. Four facilitators — Grants Chair Juli Di Chiro of Ashland, Past District Governor Mike Fischnaler of Eugene, Organizational Leadership Coordinator Chris Waugh of Cottage Grove and Public Image Chair Judy Corwin of Corvallis — supplemented the conent teaching about Rotary’s Essential Elements and leadership.
On Saturday, the group spent the morning learning basics and teamwork. Foundation, Membership and Brand, the essential elements, were among the key topics for the remainder of the day. Saturday evening included networking and dinner at Willies in Springfield. On Sunday, RLI students discussed club vibrancy, communications and planning, grants, youth and vocational services, and opportunities.
Each Rotarian earned graduation certificates, pins, and gratitude for their weekend accomplishments.
Two future Rotary Leadership Institutes are planned January 25-26 in southern Oregon and March 21-22 in central Oregon. Registrations will be open to 20 students in each session. Look for registration details on DACdb.
